Hitachi Automotive Systems Americas, Inc. is focusing on enhancing the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technologies which will be a key part of the growth of the market for autonomous driving systems. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are systems developed to automate/adapt/enhance vehicle systems for safety and better driving. Safety features are designed to avoid collisions and accidents by offering technologies that alert the driver to potential problems, or to avoid collisions by implementing safeguards and taking over control of the vehicle. ADAS is our new driving technology which is combination of Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Brake, blind spot monitoring, lane change assistance, and forward collision warnings. ADAS ECU is a platform to implement these multiple applications using data from plural sensors, cameras, radars, liders etc. and send command to plural actuators, engine, brake, steering etc.ADAS technology can detect some objects, do basic classification, alert the driver of hazardous road conditions, and in some cases, slow or stop the vehicle. This level of ADAS is great for things like blind spot monitoring, lane change assistance, and forward collision warnings. “Futuristic vehicle will be the leader of home electronics – Parallel Parking will be fully automatic” (Japanese) is posted on the following YouTube link. https://youtu.be/oy9lQxLB2Ho

Aim

  • 1) ADAS Controller capable of controlling many vehicle systems connected to Network on platform architecture
  • 2) Add new functions to ADAS without effecting the architecture and functions can be easily moved between each vehicle system controller

Benefit

  • Accelerates development speed of ADAS applications
  • By communized architecture, it provides easier expansion of ADAS applications into multiple vehicle models, and can reduce the expansion cost into multiple vehicle models

Outline & Features

  • Layered software structure
Separation of application-logic and actuator-control-logic achieves
easier modification / addition of ADAS application
    simpler arbitration algorithm
flexible choice of ADAS sensors and/or actuators
  • Increased assist power.
  • Two generations Available.
